Another Christmas Gift to You from QBIM
So Christmas has come and gone, with pretty good results for this particular QBIM writer (haven’t been able to talk to Jim about his yet) – I saw some family members I haven’t seen in a bit and came out with thirteen compact discs, ranging from Kind of Blue (I’m working at really getting into jazz) to There’s a Riot Goin’ On (same for funk), as well as some new stuff that I never got around to getting a hard copy of. And I got The Besnard Lakes‘ debut (another great band from Jagjaguwar) for review, and I will do a piece on them at the next possible opportunity. Oh, and I got a Nintendo 64.

What I was most excited about, however, was a gift that I gave this holiday season. My girlfriend is not exactly, how you say, indie. She shows flashes of indie-dom (like the time that I put on Rain Dogs and she said “Hey! That sounds like Man Man!” who I didn’t know she was familiar with), but by and large she’s more into pop/punk and mainstream singer/songwriter stuff. Being as she does like singer/songwriter material, I decided to put together a compilation of acoustic renditions of some indie music, as a means to hybridize our musical tastes. I realized just how awesome this cd was after I did my mandatory quality check, and proceeded to burn a copy for everyone I know, some people I don’t, and George W. Bush. I also wanted to share it with you! Below the tracklist is a .zip for the whole album, titled, in honour of the lady for whom it was made, Sarahcoustic. Enjoy your final Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa gift! And may you have a wonderful New Year.
