Bears ready to release Simple Machinery

Charlie McArthur and Craig Ramsey began recording as Bears in the summer of 2005. Within a year, they had released a self-titled debut, which was followed by an EP in 2006 called Shortest Day of the Year. Their sophomore album, Simple Machinery, is due in September, and it continues in the indie pop vein of The Boy least Likely To (except they’re a little less twee) and early Belle & Sebastian (except they’re a little less Scottish–because they’re American). The boys in the band are bolstered on stage by Pat McNulty (drums), Devon Coffee (bells, percussion, keys), Sean Sullivan (bass) and Patrick Tripto (guitar).
Simple Machinery is being self-released digitally and on CD; the vinyl version is being put out by Pink Teeth Records. You’ll definitely by able to get it from iTunes, where all the other Bears releases are available now. I’ve yet to hear the whole thing, but I’m pretty confident that you’ll love these guys if you’re at all into the twee-pop/indie sound they’re rockin’.
