Things are gonna change, I can feel it.
CONTEST: 21 Tandem Repeats
Preamble: I’m writing this post last night (how’s that for messed up grammar?) so that means I have no definitive proof that today marks the dawn of a new era in world politics, but I’m nothing if not hopeful that by the time you read this post we’ll be in the midst of a paradigm shift like none we’ve ever seen before. My fellow Canadians and I have been sitting on pins and needles for ages now, waiting with bated breath for November 4th to come and go, and, well, I hope you (and you know who you are) won’t disappoint us.
You know what else won’t disappoint you? 21 Tandem Repeats from Vancouver, BC, who’ll be releasing their third full length, No Junk Mail Please in a couple of weeks. The band (Super Robertson, Alec Macaulay, Chris Hobbs, and Alvaro Rojas) don’t so much as make music as grow it on an organic sound farm somewhere deep in the damp heart of BC, harvesting it when the melodies are sweetest, and the musicianship is ripest. Frontman Super says the band selected the album title with an express purpose; “We chose this title so that we could include a sticker that, once applied to your mailbox, would cease the delivery of admail,” adding that, “The music is the soundtrack of that sentiment.”
Friends of QBiM, Americans, Canadians, and members of various European nations, I implore you to return once again to the ballot box, not to cast a vote, but to cast your luck in procuring yourself an early copy of this fine LP. It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3: 1. Email CONTESTS at QUICKBEFOREITMELTS dot COM with “No More Junk Mail Please” in the subject line; 2. Put your name and mailing address in the email body, and if you want, request a special QBiM recycled bubble mailer for your prize (if you’re the lucky winner); 3. Click “Send”, sit back, and relax. easy as pie, n’est pas? Contest will close on Friday, November 7, at 11:59 p.m.
