Those bedroom eyes don’t come for free

If you’ve been hanging around these parts for a bit, you’ll know that I’m a sucker for a great pop song–better yet if the song is be a Swedish band.  No surprise that I’m digging The Sweet Serenades,–the woodsmen of indiepop–who have a new single, “Mona Lee”.  They list Arcade Fore as an influence (who doesn’t?) and there are moments that remind me of “Keep The Car Running” in the track, but I’m wondering if it’s just the power of suggestion working here.  Regardless, this is definitely a band I will be following as 2009 gets ready to open for business.  Martin Nordvall and Mathias Näslund have been friends since first meeting in 1991, but officially started life as a band in 2002.  Their was an introductory EP released last year, fittingly called First Taste, and now their debut album, Balcony Cigarettes is being released by Leon Records early in the new year.

While the Swedish Invasion of pop music lately has featured more folk/pop variations, The Sweet Serenades rock out more fully than their fellow countrymen.  They also sound like their having a ton of fun, which is probably why this single is so damn catchy.

Since we’re talking Sweden, Peter Bjorn and John have announced that they’ll be gracing us with a proper follow-up to Writer’s Block soon (they issued an instrumental album earlier this year).  In anticipation, the band has released an odd video, with an amazingly catchy little soundtrack.  I guarantee you that you’ll be singing the chorus in your head for hours.

Wow, that one’s a pick-me-up. I don’t know about “Keep The Car Running,” but I’m hearing “Alone Together” or maybe “Soma”. Thanks for the heads up!

They also sound like their having a ton of fun, which is probably why this single is so damn catchy.”

It’s a respectable and instructive article. Things are ordered wellspring. Get to bed lot’s of thing which were inglorious to me. It’s really one of the most facilitatory article I hold ever read. I bookmarked this page as healed for to get better from it in hereafter.
