CONTEST: The Sound of The Smiths CD!

(photo: Tom Sheehan)
Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me, but it just turned out to be the start of some flu-like symptoms. I knew if I didn’t do something about it, I’d end up getting nowhere fast. The last thing I wanted for the weekend was to be sidetracked, so as my infected big mouth strikes again, I’m fighting back by taking some very potent oil of oregano this morning, and it’s done the trick; heaven know I’m not so miserable now, so this charming man wants to hold a contest!
Up for grabs is your very own copy of the recently issued The Sound of The Smiths compilation, featuring 23 tracks remastered by Johnny Marr himself, and a sleeve design overseen by Mr. Steven Patrick Morrissey (please note this is the single CD version, not the deluxe 2-CD set that is also available). All you have to do to get it for yourself is email me your name and mailing address to CONTESTS [AT] QUICKBEFOREITMELTS [DOT] COM and be sure to put the name of your favourite Smiths track in the subject line of the email (it would be nice if you could leave a comment on this post telling us what your favourite track is too, but that’s not going to be a requirement for the contest). The CD will come to you (with possible bonus prizes) in your very own, hand-made QBiM recycled bubble wrapper featuring Mr. Marr and his axe. Contest closes in just under a week, Friday, January 16, at 11:59 p.m.
I’m hoping that by Monday I won’t be still ill and can get back to some serious blogging. For now, here’s some wishful thinking for all who are entering the contest, courtesy of Alex “Franz Ferdinand” Capranos’s former band, The Karelia.

Thanks for the advice, V, and thanks for kick-starting the discussion. I have such a hard time pinpointing my favourite Smiths song because they all were such fantastic numbers, but the one track that I like going back to over and over again has got to be “Paint A Vulgar Picture”, which never shows up on these compilations, but to me, it’s not only a quintessential Smiths track, but it’s also the actual story of The Smiths set to music, written almost as prophecy before the band actually broke apart. Classic.
