My favorite song has got to be Panic. It was the first Smiths song I listened to and I can still remember the excitement I felt so many years ago. Here is a great cover by Carter USM.

Has to be William, it was really nothing...

The lyrics, the sentiment and the music are amazing; it also isnt on The Queen is dead, or isnt 'This Charming man'.

You Just Haven't earned It Yet, Baby gets overlooked sometimes because it's a non-album single, and I always forget how much I like it until I hear it again.

I think Vicar In a Tutu is one of my favourite moments on The Queen Is Dead because it's the perfect balance to some of the darker moments on the album. The fact that it comes right before There Is A Light That Never Goes Out intensifies the contrast between the two. Good choice.

Favorite Smiths song...Hmmmm....This will be tough. Ok, how about a favorite Smiths record? No? Ok then, I have to go with (and this isn't easy) - Vicar In A Tutu!

I know, I know, it's really seriously #$%%# up, but it's a great song on a great record!

Thanks for listening!

Thanks for the advice, V, and thanks for kick-starting the discussion. I have such a hard time pinpointing my favourite Smiths song because they all were such fantastic numbers, but the one track that I like going back to over and over again has got to be "Paint A Vulgar Picture", which never shows up on these compilations, but to me, it's not only a quintessential Smiths track, but it's also the actual story of The Smiths set to music, written almost as prophecy before the band actually broke apart. Classic.

Simple; "This Charming Man". Expect an email soon and hope you get better (Mates of State allusion?)! Nyquil usually does the trick for me, so knock yourself out with that. :D
