We have post

January 20th is set to be a pretty big day, as the first glut of major new music releases of the year drop; Animal Collective, Andrew Bird (!!), Antony and the Johnson, and a Bon Iver EP will all be in the shops that day.  In light of all this upcoming activity, I thought I’d take a minute to go over some of the other nuggets that have been filling my inbox, and in turn hopefully scare up a sufficient enough post for today.

Yesterday’s featured band, Glasvegas, were on Letterman earlier this week.  Their debut album officially hit North American shops yesterday.  You’ll be singing this song in your head for the rest of the year.  David Letterman is a dink.

London based trio We Have Band have covered Pet Shop Boys’ classic “West End Girls” as part of Buffetlibre DJ’s ongoing Rewind series of classic covers and remixes.  Rewind 2.0 also features Au Revoir Simone, Bonde Do Role, and Headlights rewriting the early new wave songbook.   You can download individual tracks, or get the whole lot in one go.  I think my favourite has to be Project Jenny Project Jan’s reworking of Laure Brannigan’s “Self Control”.

A.C. Newman’s called in the help of some friends to kick off  the release of his latest full-length, Get Guilty.  Sydney Vermont, one-half of Hello Blue Roses (along with boyfriend Dan Bejar) has designed an exclusive t-shirt to go along with the digital download version of the album from Insounds.  SHAMELESS ADVERTISING PLUG ALERT! My dear readers can go and preorder their shirt/download combo now and get 10% off the order by using this coupon:  guiltyshirt10.

Paper bag Records are branching out into even more dance/techno sounds with the addition of Montreal DJ/producer CFCF to their roster.  Panesian Nights, CFCF’s first EP will be available on January 20 (big surprise) at all your favourite digital music retailers, but you can sample his wares ahead of time here:

Lastly, today, but certainly not least, our friends Ruby Isle have reignited their Ruby Isle vs. Elbo.ws project again, and this week they’re taking on Fleet Foxes.  You don’t know what the Ruby Isle vs. Elbo.ws project is?  You can find out more about it here, and listen to the fruits of their labours here:

…And we have post.  See you tomorrow, my friends.

Ha ha, you’re braver than me! I haven’t been able to bring myself to listen to it yet, either.
