I’m interrupting the previously scheduled post for today to bring you some late-breaking, fantastic news: Bishop Allen are back in town!  I had planned on mentioning the impending release of Justin Rice and Christian Rudder’s third LP, Grrr…, a little closer to it’s March 10th release date (you can pre-order now), but now that the band has officially revamped their site and made a couple tracks available, the party can officially start!

Grrr… is quickly winning my heart over with it’s classic, whip-smart pop.  It’s actually a very different sounding album to The Broken String, which ended 2007 with a highly coveted spot on my favourite albums of the year list.  Will Grrr… fight its way to a spot in December?  That, much like my full-out review of the album, remains to be seen, but for now, suffice to say that these two tracks are enough to make my mouth water.  I admit fully that “The Ancient Commonsense of Things” is the instant winner, but I did find myself humming “Dimmer” as I was making breakfast the other morning, so I wouldn’t dismiss it yet.

Have you seen them live yet? I’ve been meaning to check them out, but always seem to miss them when they’re in L.A.

They are going to be on the new Josh Schwartz/ Alex Patsavas project Rockville, CA (http://www.thewb.com/shows/rockville-ca/), which will have two full length video performances on the site available for streaming.

Also, I LOVE the new Handsome Furs, SO GOOD!

Haven’t seem them live yet, but would absolutely love to.

Funny, though–I’m really starting to be disappointed with the new Handsome Furs album. It’s not really doing much for me after a few more listens. I don’t know. I think I liked Plague Park too much. maybe I just need a break from it.
