Fine for now

This is becoming a habit, this weekend round-up post of odds and ends from the previous week (in this case the previous two weeks), but there’s so much I want to pass along to you that if I left it all for individual posts, it would all be old news by the time you read it.  Enough with the preamble, let’s dive into the inbox, shall we?

Conor Oberst fans are getting a second slice of delight in 2009, as he and The Mystic Valley Band who helped him record his self-titled release are set to bring us Outer South, on May 5th via Merge Records.  They debuted one of the new tracks on Conan O’Brien in November:

The Decemberists want you to deign their official show poster.  Fo’ sho’.

Laura Barrett is about to show America just what we Canadians can do with our thumbs;  she’s getting set to release Victory Garden there and she’s got candy:

Hey did you notice that I didn’t jump on the blogging bandwagon and wax on and on this week about how awesome it is that Grizzly Bear have announced details of their new album, Veckatimest?  I like to be an individual, you know.  You can now individually pre-spend you money by pre-ordering the CD or vinyl at Insound now, apparently.

Ruby Isle redux the The Thermals this week:

I was almost embarrassed to post this until I actually watched the clip, and realized that the Andrea Crouch Gospel Choir (Madonna and Michael Jackson’s backing singers) and Owen “Final Fantasy” Pallett plus flamboyant international pop singer  Mika make for an interesting combination:

Doves have announced tour dates that mean nothing to us North Americans, and that the next single from their forthcoming Kingdom Of Rust is going to be the title track.  And this is going to be its video:

Finally this week, I’ve been sitting on this pearl of a track for awhile now, and it’s just so bloody lovely i want you to hear it now.  The Online Romance will get more coverage here this year I’m certain, but please take this tasty little morsel and enjoy it now.
