Did you have a good Record Store Day yesterday?  I hope you found something truly special as you flipped through the racks, and I hope you were able to forge a new friendship or two over a mutual love of  Yellow House, or the entire Asthmatic Kitty catalogue, or possibly even over a mutual appreciation of the fuzzed out sonic blast of Silversun Pickups.  My local record store clerk was impressed that I picked up their latest, Swoon, having forgotten that it had come out earlier in the week.  I mentioned to her that I was not that well acquainted with their work, and was hoping to get something new and different today to honour the spirit of RSD.  As I continued searching the store for more fine records, the clerk went and got a copy of the album to play over the store stereo, and I have to say that I was really impressed and surprised by Swoon.  It’s not at all the kind of album I would gravitate to on my own; the hard edge and Smashing Pumpkins-esque bombast would have turned me off some but I was open to something new and different, and this certainly fit the bill.
