He had me up until cheeseburgers.
In what will go down in blogger history as the best April Fool’s joke ever, Matt “Fluxblog” Perpetua announced that as of yesterday, Fluxblog would have to stop being a music blog, as he had just signed a contract with Pitchfork media which forbade him from writing about music in any other capacity than for Pitchfork. Something was up when I clicked the link to the pictures of his new cat, and it was all confirmed by the time I started watching the video tribute he created to himself. But a quick read of all the comments on this post shows that Mr. Perpetua got the better of a whole slew of readers.

In other news, The Rumble Strips have released a new track from their forthcoming Mark Ronson produced album, Welcome to the Walk Alone. “London” is a chipper little number that sounds a bit kitschy, a bit campy, and throws everything but the kitchen sink into the mix. In other words, it’s a whole mess of fun.

Doves are streaming Kingdom of Rust now at their Myspace page ahead of its April 7 (6 in the UK) release. I’m there right now. And totally freakin’ loving it.

You only have a few days to download the new Kasabian single “Vlad the Impaler” from the official site, if that’s something you would like to do. I wasn’t going to, but curiosity got the better of me. Still not sure if that was a good thing or not.

EDIT: Yeah, I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t a good thing at all. I’ll leave the link up and let you decide for yourself, though.
