I’ll let you whip me if I misbehave

Toronto’s Rock Plaza Central have been called “stars-in-waiting” by one venerable music press monthly, and I tend to agree with them on this point.  Rock Plaza Central are what Clap Your Hands Say Yeah could have been if they didn’t lose the plot: a loose-limbed collective that doesn’t take the direct route to your heart, but rather takes detours along the way, gathering up more and more fans with each twist and turn in the road.  From their surreptitious beginning after an open invitation for members of other bands to join Chris Eaton on stage, to their two critically-acclaimed albums, Rock Plaza Central have barely misstepped (or misbehaved).

Paper Bag Records certainly think these guys have a bright future, as they’ve just signed RPC to their label, and are set to release some new material later this year.  At The Moment Of Our Most Needing, Or If Only They Could Turn Around, They Would Know They Weren’t Alone is the tongue twisting title of Rock Plaza Central’s third LP, and draws a heavy influence from William Faulkner’s Light In August.  Expect to hear more closer to the May 26 release date.
