Fans of sophisticated French pop should stay up tonight and catch Phoenix on Saturday Night Live tonight.  The band will be playing selections from their forthcoming Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix album, set for a May 26 release.  “1901″ is some cool merde.

The National Post starts a three-part feature on Metric today, tracking the band’s humble beginnings merde-talking band’s at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern to playing in front of sold-out crowds at Madison Square Gardens.  Fantasies, the band’s fourth disc, has had its release date moved up, and can be in your hands as of this Tuesday.  It could be in your hard drive as of right now via iTunes, or even better, you can head over to the band’s online store and buy yourself a digipack version of the CD and get an immediate download of the album.  Sorry folks, the limited-edition signed vinyl/CD/unreleased tracks and bonus artwork package is already sold out of its 500 copy run.

While we’re on the subject, our good pals AWMusic have a review of Fantasies for you to consider.  I’ll have one for you this week, too.

Have you checked out Culture Bully’s new look recently?  It’s the merde, in my opinion, and I’m thinking of following their lead and looking at a similar revamp for QBiM.  In the meantime, check out the live review of Bob Mould, and welcome the return of one of the hardest working gay guys in the history of American popular music.
