One in ten

I don’t really know all that much about Katy Perry, other than the fact that she kissed a girl, and apparently likes it.  I do know a fair bit about Woodhands, though; they’re a dynamic duo of Toronto musicians who’ve set hearts a-flutter and feet a-movin’ with their kick ass electro beats.  Their album, Heart Attack was definitely a treat last year, garnering them some recent praise from UK magazine Q, who calls Woodhands “One of the 10 best new bands on Earth.”

To go along with the Eddie-Grant approved cover of his “Electric Avenue”, the band have now added a cover of Perry’s ubiquitous chart topper to their repertoire, which I’m sure goes down a storm at their live shows.

Speaking of electronic music, Chad VanGaalen has announced his plans to release an album as Black Mold.  VanGaalen’s electronic alter ego will premier Snow Blindness is Crystal Antz on August 11th along with a bonus album for download.

Another great electronic duo is the New York/Berlin-based The Glass who have a new track available from their forthcoming full-length.  Recently they appeared as one of 19 artists who covered tracks by Morrissey and The Smiths for The Music Slut’s TMS Hearts Moz compilation, in honour of Morrissey’s 50th birthday.  You can pick up their version of “Girlfriend in a Coma” here, and the new single below.
