“Got Nuffin” for the weekend

There’s not much to say, but what I have to say is more than enough get the weekend going.  Spoon are back with a brand new EP, Got Nuffin.  Okay, it’s really only a three-track single, but hey, whose splitting hairs?

This marks the band’s first new music since 2007′s supremely enjoyable Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.  “Got Nuffin” sounds vintage; classic, clean, crisp and commanding.  It’s not sonically remarkable in any way other than being just a great tune.  In my mind, Spoon are always a great summer band, because they’re not burdening the listener with a whole lot of chutzpah; they just play their brand of straight-up indie rock like a refreshing breeze on a hot day.  Ah summer, ah Spoon.
