Sometimes it’s a daunting task trying to come up with a post about someone who’s only just sent you the scantest of emails with a link to their Myspace page, or if you’re lucky, a download of whatever music their promoting at the time. Often times, these emails end up sitting in my inbox for much longer than I would like, and don;t get the full attention that the artists who sent them would like (and in most cases deserve). It’s rare for me to get an email from someone and have their music up on the site the next day. Rare, but it does happen.
It’s happening today.
Yesterday I received an email from Cameron Navetta, who fronts The Jet Rodriguez. Cameron didn’t give me a bio, or some flashy copy to draw my attention to his work. He simply said that he’s willing to let the music speak for him. And sometimes that’s the best thing anyone can do. Therefore, I’m not going to write a lengthy review here, and I’m not going to go into any real detail about the band, because truthfully, a) I don’t know anything more about The Jet Rodriguez than I’ve already told you, and b) it won’t matter once you hear the songs. There will be time enough soon to talk to Cameron and learn more about his music (keep your eyes peeled for more from him here sometime soon); for now, you can stream the whole of Seven Hour Night Shifts on Jet Rodriguez’s Myspace page, sample some of their sound below, and, if you so choose (and I think you will), get yourself a copy of this fine disc instantly. At most, I’ll say that fans of Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver, you’ll certainly find something of note here.

FANTASTIC!! Layered and moving. Not unlike Fleet Foxes or the Beach Boys, with a tinge of bluegrass. Excellent.
