In the vein of Jenn Grant (who was featured here earlier this week), I bring you some music from Toronto chanteuse Andrea Gauster, who debuted her first EP, Reverie with a CD launch at the Super Market in Toronto’s Kensington Market last Monday.  Gauster’s voice combines elements of sweetness and delicacy with the rough edges of someone who’s singing from the heart rather than technically.  She definitely has heart, and this 6 song EP features many beautiful, tender moments.  The title track is a very sincere love song to one’s true love, and the stand out moment on the EP.  It’s definitely a sign of good things to come from Gauster and upstart label Broken Window Records.

Andrea Gauster is apparently heading to medical school in the Fall, to pursue her other love.  I hope that, like author Vincent Lam, the lure of security and an “important job” doesn’t stop Gauster from pursuing her artistic dreams, too.  It would be a shame to let her voice and songwriting go to waste.
