If you’re still looking for something to do this weekend, and you’re within driving distance of the Niagara Region, don’t forget that the first ever Bridgestock Music Festival happens Saturday, August 15 in Welland, Ontario. Walk up tickets are a mere $25 and gets you front and centre for a pretty impressive line up that includes Poison the Well, Street Pharmacy, Stereos, In These Walls, The Midway State, The Rosewoods and many more. Three separate stages will be set up in and around the downtown Welland core, one of which is the floating Illuminaqua stage right on the Old Canal itself! How cool is that? You get to sit in the brand spanking new amphitheatre and watch the bands floating in the middle of the canal! Can Pitchfork or Loolapalooza claim that? I think not.
They also can’t claim to have hometwon favourites Street Pharmacy, who’ll be launching their new CD, Self-Prescribed Feelgood at Bridgestock. Their infectious “hip hop reggae rock” is just what the doctor ordered for a hot, steamy, summer night. Below is their decidedly un-reggae, no-punches-pulled ode to their hometown. Brings a tear to a glass eye, I tell ya.
