NEW MUSiC: Muse “Uprising”
Cover art for Muses The Resistance

Back when I started writing Quick Before It Melts, I was all over Muse and their Black Holes and Revelations album.  It’s one of those album’s that you don’t necessarily sit and listen to all the way through, but cherry-pick a couple tracks to play at maximum volume on occasion.  I’m sure I lost a couple of pounds bouncing around the house to “Starlight” and I know I dropped a stone or two on the elliptical machine with “Map of the Problematique”.

How I’ll fair in my ongoing weight loss attempts with the assistance of Muse’s new LP, The Resistance is yet to be seen, but the Dr. Who-alike opening single, “Uprising” has already kicked my heart rate up a few beats per minute in just the couple of listens I’ve given it.  The previously released taster from the LP, “United States of Eurasia/Collateral Damage” was a Queen-y head scratcher, but “Uprising” sounds more like the Muse you think of when you think of Muse.

The Resistance is scheduled for release on September 14 and has some fetching eye-candy adorning it’s cover (as you can see by the photo).

I’m really liking “uprising” and didn’t think much of the queen track at all!
Your take on “black holes” is spot on. I find it’s the perfect shuffle album on the ipod. It’s great when one of the tracks just jumps out at you!
nice post

I like the song, but it is awfully close to the tune of the Doctor Who theme.
