Like a mystical marching band on the make, The Flaming Lips‘ “Silver Trembling Hands” charges  towards you without regard for who or what is in its path.  The first sample of what’s to come from the double album Embryonic has some of the dark and brooding vibe of Wayne Coyne’s work on Dark Night of the Soul with Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse.  So far, I’m really digging this track, which comes as a bit of a surprise to me.  I haven’t much cared for anything The Flaming Lips have done since The Soft Bulletin, one of my favourite albums of forever.  Embryonic may once again bring me into the Flaming Lips fanatic fold.

Embryonic is out on October 13 via Warner Bros.
