4 for the weekend 12•05•09

Thanks to Dancing About Architecture for turning me onto this whip-smart remix of The Hidden Cameras‘ “In The NA” by Scissor Sister Jake Shears and Stuart Price (a.k.a Thin White Duke).  The “Crystal Pepsi” remix is part of the ‘Cameras “In The NA” EP which came out earlier this summer.

Thanks to Jaxsur for sending a remix of Dragonette’s “Pick Up The Phone”.  With no other information to go on other than a Myspace link and a download link for the track, there’s not much I can say about Jaxsur, other than good show for a first remix.  Reminds me of my other favourite pirate remixer, Telemitry

Spoon have a new album coming out in January called Transference.  The first single is called “Written In reverse” and is streaming at Merge Records now.  First reaction: It’s no “Ghost of You Lingers”, a song that blew me away on the first listen.

I get a lot of emails, and a lot of them end up in the trash, but that doesn’t mean I’m not paying attention to who’s sending me them and who the emails about.  So while I may not have ever mentioned Clare and the Reasons on these pages, I feel like I’ve been kept weel abreast of their 2009.  They’re closing it out with a cover of Genesis’ “That’s All” that’s pretty cool, and announce a tour with Van Dyke Parks, which is even cooler.
