Peanuts to help out a good cause
(C. Schultz)

(C. Schultz)

I’m not one to really get into the Christmas spirit, I will admit.  Up until last year, I didn’t even have a tree to put up in my house (too much hassle decorating and un-decorating a few weeks later), and I try and keep any gift giving simple, and significant (read:  I don’t by the paperboy anything).  I appreciate the holdiay season, don’t get me wrong, and i respect its religiius significance, and the time spent with family, but all the hype and hoopla leaves me empty.

When I do get in teh spirit is when I see or hear about people rallying to support those in need, much like CBC Radio’s Sounds of the Season activities last week, which help support food banks in the Toronto area.  Along those lines, and keeping with this blog’s raison d’être, I’d like to draw your attention to Zunior.com’s just released A Peanuts Christmas: The 2009 Zunior Holiday Album.  For $8.88, you can hear some great track-for-track re-interpretation’s of the classic Vince Guaraldi Trio album that soundtracked Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown.  100% of the retail sale price goes to the Daily Bread Food Bank, and the only place to get this digital-only release is through Zunior.

There’s a pair of tracks available to tempt the unconvinced, one of which is my favourite song on the original record, recorded by one of my favourite Canadian bands:
