Squeaky clean beats

I’m not a big hip-hop fan, but I’m all for smashing genre barriers and mixing shit up every once in awhile.  It’s fun being unorthodox, which is why I’ve been digging Toronto multi-instrumentalist/producer Peter Project (aka Peter Chapman) and his slammin’ tune “Unorthodox”.  The concept of being far from what’s expected goes just beyond the song title to taking in the packaging of his recently released Fresh EP.  You see, the download card for the EP comes encased in a bar of soap.  Yeah, you read that right:  A BAR OF SOAP.

So as the press release says, “you gotta wet it to get it”.  Not to worry though, you’ll build up a decent sweat listening to some of the tracks posted at Myspace, so that bar of soap will certainly be put to good use.  For those less cleanly-orientated, you can just get a straight download of the EP, which features contributions from More or Les, Laura Barret, Masia One, Maylee Todd and Wordburglar (cudos to anyone who recognizes any of the names–Laura Barrett is the only one I know).  What I do know is that Peter Project’s funky synthesized beats are as clean and fresh as the sanitizer they come wrapped in.  Not since Ernie got funky with a rubber duckie has bath time been this much fun.
