NEW MUSiC: Rae Spoon releases free EP

We won’t get to here Love Is A Hunter (the follow-up to 2008′s Superioryouareinferior) until August, but Rae Spoon is releasing a free EP today to tide us over until then. Featuring a remix of his previous album’s “Come On Forest Fire Burn The Disco Down” by DJ CPI and an electro version of the much requested song “There Is A Light (But It’s Not For Everyone)” (name-checking Leonard Cohen and Morrissey), the thereisafire EP may be low on the quantity of tracks it offers, but makes up for it in quality.  You probably won’t be dancing to the “Come On Forest Fire…” remix at the local disco anytime soon, but it offers just another glimpse into this multi-faceted artist.  Rae Spoon doesn’t cross genres and styles as much as he bends and twists them into his own creations.  You need look no further than his recent collaboration with German artist Alex Decoupigny, based on a Berlin subway line that was never built.

DJ CPI is an artist/activist working out of Ottawa who has 12 years of DJ mixes available at her own site http://thetastates.com, and check her MP3 blog at http://djcpi.blogspot.com.

Rae Spoon is out on tour now in Ontario.  You can catch him at the following shows and house concerts:
