NEW MUSiC: The Love Language “Heart to Tell”

(photo: Jason Arthurs)

Stuart McLamb has a couple of records, one he wants you to know about and one he probably doesn’t want you to know about.  The one he most certainly wants you to know about is called Libraries, his sophomore album as The Love Language and his debut for Merge Records.  The one he probably doesn’t want to publicize as much is the DUI he got the night he found out he was being signed to Merge.  McLamb humourously told Under The Radar magazine that “It has ruined my life,” before breaking into The Cars Drive: “Who’s gonna drive me home? That’s my song”.

Not quite.  His song is the rollicking lo-fi pop ditty “Heart to Tell”, a song that sounds like it’s driven a Dolorean back to the future from a past of breezy harmonies and luscious pop hooks.  It will take you all of half a listen to fall under it’s spell.  With just 2 minutes and 27 seconds, McLamb has got me anxiously awaiting the full release of Libraries on July 13.  He recorded the whole bloody thing himself with some help from producer BJ Burton, who helped guide McLamb through a maze of Spectoresque walls of sound.  I am totally getting drunk on this song:

Great song! Can’t wait to hear what the album holds.
