ViDEO: Dan Mangan “Road Regrets”

I don’t know whether music video making is now a lost art or just coming into its own.  The creative possibilities have certainly expanded since MTV was born and Duran Duran chased a wolf lady around a jungle while sailing on a yacht (and yes, I know those were two separate videos, don’t bother commenting on it), but who’s watching them, and where?

Ah well, rest assured when I see something that’s as beautiful as the award-winning animation of Dan Mangan‘s “Road Regrets” video, I will bring it to you.  It won the LEO Award (honouring British Columbia’s Television and film productions)  for “Best Music Video” and is going to be screening at animation film festivals in Brazil, South Korea and the UK  in the near future.

Speaking of the UK, Mangan is on his way there shortly to take to the John Peel Stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.  That’s ‘effin’ awesome if you ask me!  He’ll be touring through the U.S. in August just as Arts & Crafts gets set to release Nice, Nice, Very Nice south of the border.  Homegrown fans can see him at a handful of gigs around the country in July, and of course can also add to their growing and impressive collection of new vinyl by picking up Nice, Nice, Very Nice is that format here.
