Japandroids release second in thier series of five 7" singles

Back in February I mentioned Japandroids were planning on releasing a series of five 7″ singles, each featuring a previously unreleased track from the Post-Nothing sessions and a cover.  Single No. 2 dropped just this week, and it’s a beaut.  “Younger Us” packs a propulsive punch in its three-and-a-half minutes, but its lyrics have a sweet sentimentality that almost brings a tear to my eye (almost).  I guess I’m just getting old.  Remembering those bygone days of yore when the world felt like it was mine for the taking now replaces actually going out and doing all those crazy things.  Here’s a snippet of what I’m talking about:

Remember when we had them all on the run,
And the night we saw midnight sun,
Remember saying things like we’ll sleep when we’re dead,
And thinkin this feeling was never gonna end,
Remember that night you were already in bed,
Said fuck it got up to drink with me instead…

“Younger Us” is backed by a cover of “Sex and Dying in High Society” by seminal LA punk rockers X.  It’s available now in a limited edition run of 2500 from Polyvinyl Records.  Japandroids will be playing at the Hillside Festival in Guelph on Saturday.
