If it’s Saturday, this must be Sufjan Stevens
It seems like for the last three weekends, Sufjan Stevens has made his way into my post. First it was his upcoming tour, then it was his upcoming EP, now it’s his upcoming album and new single. The Age of Adz (pronounced “Odds”) is coming via Asthmatic Kitty Records on October 12. It’s Sevens’ first song-based full length since 2005 when he dropped Illinois on an unsuspecting indie-dom. You’ll be able to pick it up on CD and MP3 in October but have to wait until November if you want it on double-vinyl. If you want to hear the fourth track from it now, all you have to do is click the link below (and right-click it if you want to keep it for future reference):

You’ll recall a few weeks back I told you about your new favourite band, Twin Shadow (aka George Lewis Jr.)? Well get your arse in gear and head over here to get a download of his debut album Forget for the unbelievably low price of US $1. Produced by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, Forget sounds like something Marty McFly might have brought to with him in his DeLorean time machine from 1985 and inadvertently left behind in 2010. I won’t say it’s immediately grabbed me, but it’s brooding yet hopeful tone has grown on me with each successive listen, especially opening number “Tyrant Destroyed”. Come one, for a buck, you can’t go wrong! If you really hate it, I’ll give you a buck to make up for the recommendation, okay?
