The Acorn Make the Least of the Day

No Ghost gets reinterpreted and remixed, plus North American tour details

“Cottaging” can mean something very different to depending on who you are and where you’re from, so if you’re like me and it immediately brings to mind–err–”seedy” exchanges, rest assured the cottaging The Acorn is doing won’t get any one into any trouble.  Having recorded their latest album, No Ghost, at a secluded cottage in Northern Québec, the band decided to bring ‘the cottage’ on tour with them, creating a thematic stage show, complete with props and specials guests, to help bring the album to life.  they’ll be heading out on an extensive North American jaunt that will take them from Halifax on September 15 to Ottawa on December 4 with stops in Boston, New York, Edmonton and Vancouver along the way (A full list of dates is posted below).

No Ghost is getting the remix treatment, too.  The Acorn have called on “friends and heroes” to “annihilate and reinvent their music” and the results are being collected on Make The Least of The Day, which will be available physically at the band’s live shows, and digitally through Paper Bag Digital on September 14.  The remix roster includes label mates Born Ruffians (“Crossed Wires”), Woodpigeon (“On The Line”), Four Tet (“Restoration”), Diamond Rings (“No Ghost”), Ohbijou (“Almanac”), and Chad VanGaalen (“I Made The Law”).  My Old Kentuky Blog got a sneak peak at Megafaun’s reworking of “Kindling To Cremation” that you can check out here:
