If it’s Saturday, this must be Belle and Sebastian
This weekend couldn’t get here soon enough. Sometimes short work weeks are worse than full ones, especially when it’s your first week back to work after an extended absence. I feel like I’ve had to play catch-up on all fronts, but at least I’ve got a pile of new music to keep me going this weekend, starting with:
New Belle and Sebastian! The title track from Belle and Sebastian Write About Love is yours for the downloading in exchange for your email address. It features guest vocals from Carey Mulligan (An Education). Not to dampen my enthusiasm for the band’s return, but “Write About Love” isn’t setting my playlists on fire with repeated listens. It’s not nearly as compelling in its entirety as the small snippet of “I Want The World to Stop” from their the promotional video I first posted here. You can hear that track, along with “I Didn’t See It Coming” as part of their half-hour webisode/transmission here.

Pitchfork also reports that Norah Jones will be appearing on the track “Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John” As I was looking around to see where else the song had been posted, I came across Fluxblog‘s summation of the song, and I have to agree: The Life Pursuit is their finest moment so far, but I won’t give up hope on …Write About Love quite yet. It’s out on October 12 in North America via Matador.
