ViDEO: The Dears “Omega Dog” live

The Dears premiere first tarck off their new record

Lovely news out of Montreal yesterday:  The Dears are giving us all a taste of what to expect when they take to stages in Toronto, Montreal and Brooklyn at the end of this month for a string of residencies, where they’ll be playing the entirety of their as-yet-titled new album.  “Omega Dog” is the album’s opening track, and a live video version of it from their string of shows in Mexico City this May is floating on the interweb (or below):

It’s over eight minutes of some serious heavy riffing and grinding keyboards, proving once again that The Dears are no slouches content to sit on their laurels.  Signs point clearly that this may be a very different sounding record than Missiles was.

To publicize the shows, The Dears held a poster design contest, of which the finalist can be viewed and voted on here.  It all kicks off in Montreal on September 29, 30, and October 1 at the Santa Cruz Church, then it’s off to Toronto October 13, 14 and 15 at The Garrison, and then finally landing in Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory on November 3 and 4.  Money raised by the shows are going to War Child and the Montreal Mission.
