Once more now

British Sea Power prepare to set sail with a new LP for 2011

British Sea PowerI’ve been spending a fair bit of time this week prepping for the annual QBiM favourite albums of the year post by doing some digging in the archives and looking at what made the cut in previous years.  Back in December 2008, Do You Like Rock Music? by British Sea Power was able to hold onto a spot on that list even though it was released some 12 months earlier, the epitome of “staying power”.  There won’t be a British Sea Power album on the 2010 version of the list, but perhaps in December 2011 they’ll repeat their previous performance: Valhalla Dancehall, their new album is scheduled for a January 11, 2011 release (that’s 1/11/11 for you number freaks, as recently pointed out by Frank at Chromewaves).  It’s all a bit confusing, actually, because the date that’s listed on their official site’s Music page says November 15, 2010 (UPDATE:  The BSP main page now lists the January release date but they haven’t updated the Music page yet), but since that date has come and gone and no album has appeared, we’ll go with the January date listed at Myspace.

Earlier this year BSP released an EP called Zeus, a teaser for the upcoming album proper, and even more recently, they’ve made a new song from Valhalla Dancehall available for the masses as well:
