Wrapping up the week (with pretty bows and ribbons)
At last! News about the sophomore disc from The Rural Alberta Advantage. Departing will be out on March 1, 2011 on Paper Bag Records. Their January 12 gig at NYC’s Mercury Lounge is already sold out, but I don’t know if any tickets are left for their last show of 2010 in Toronto on December 16, 2010 at Lee’s Palace. Tracklisting for Departed is below:

Two Lovers
The Breakup
Under the Knife
Muscle Relaxants
North Star
Stamp
Tornado ‘87
Barnes’ Yard
Coldest Days
Good Night

Keeping with Paper Bag–set to have a stellar 2011–Young Galaxy have offered up another simmering disco-esque slice from the forthcoming Shapeshifting (out February 8). “Cover Your Tracks” was featured by CHARTAttack earlier this week (here), and Gorilla Vs. Bear (here). I’m smitten like the dickens. You can check it out for yourself below:

Mother Mother are gearing up for a new year release, too: Eureka hits shops on March 15 via Last Gang. First single “The Stand” is imminent.

How can an old timer like me not be interested in hearing what a collaboration between the bassists from New Order, The Smiths, and The Stone Roses sounds like? Freebase is New Order’s Peter Hook, ex-Smith Andy Rourke, and Mani Mounfield of The Stone Roses. The verdict on “Bury Me Standing” and “Not Too Late” from their album It’s a Beautiful Life? I think it’s too late.
