Jimmy’s buffet
If you liked the sample of music from Pseudo Kids that I posted in October, then you’ll love the 10 new songs that make up their self-titled LP, recently posted to their Bandcamp site. Like I said back in the fall, Pseudo Kids aren’t into gimmicks and flashy nonsense; they’re the kind of band that just gets right down to it, puts their hearts and souls into the music and let the results speak for themselves. I like these guys more and more with each listen.
When I look at pictures of Chicago’s Smith Westerns, I can’t help but think of those first pictures of Suede I saw in 1991, with their shoulder length hair, sunken cheeks and “don’t fuck with us” stares. The three-piece are pushing their sophomore LP, Dye It Blonde, which is getting a heck of a lot of attention lately. “All Die Young” is a nice enough track, but I think I need to hear the whole thing before I make any judgments.

Apex Manor have released their debut LP, The Year of Magical Drinking this week, along with a new video for the track”My My Mind”. A full album review is on the way soon.

You probably already heard that there’s a new Birght Eyes album coming in three weeks, and Conor Oberst and co. are further tantalizing their fans with another new song from The Peopel’s Key, “Haile Selassie”. For those who can’t wait, the album will be streaming on NRP next week.
