Creep on creepin’ on
I was a little slow to come around to Timber Timbre‘s self-titled third record (released in 2009), and honestly, it hasn’t been one I’ve gone back and revisited very much since then. But when I got my first taste of their new album, Creep On Creepin’ On, due out on Arts & Crafts on April 5, I immediately knew that this new album will likely be on heavy rotation as soon as I can get my hands on it. The haunting and dark tones are still there, but the music is shot through with a more straight-ahead pop sound that’s deliciously enticing. The lead single “Black Water” sounds like something straight off a David Lynch film soundtrack. I can’t help but laugh as Taylor Kirk croons “All I need is some sunshine,” over and over atop one of gloomiest melodies I’ve heard in awhile.
