Strip joint roundabout

You can add another gritty, scuzzy, amp-blowing Canadian alt-rock duo to the ever-growing list of twosomes making enough noise for 10 people: Cursed Arrows. They’ve been around for awhile now, but just recently showed up on my radar thanks to their soon-to-be-released third album, The Madness of Crowds (out April 3 physically but available digitally now here).
The husband-and-wife-Halifax based Jack E Stanley and Ry N Stanley first met as 21 year-olds and have been making mad passionate music together for seven years now. The Madness of Crowds delicately balances the yin and yang of Cursed Arrows. On one hand, they’re beating the shit out of the drums and making their guitars bleed, and on the other they layer poetic, almost tribal lyrics over top all the noise like only two people in love can do. Their passionate, pulverizing sound is just the kick in the ass I need to get over this mid-week slump I’m in today.
