Under the knife

Polaris Music Prize Record Salon #5 is Departing

The Drake Hotel is the place to be again this month as the good Polaris Music Prize folks invade once more for the fifth Record Salon in their series celebrating some potential award-winning albums.

This month’s featured album is Departing, the sophomore LP from The Rural Alberta Advantage released on Paper Bag Records this past March.  The festivities are being hosted by music journalist and Rue Morgue editor Dave Alexander, who will be joined by The RAA’s Nils Edenloff for some Q&A before Departing gets a thorough listening to by all there.

Me, I’ve heard it a few times already.  Okay a few hundred times, actually.  I’m listening to it right now, as a matter of fact, after having included it in a list of five albums I really liked this year that I sent to some people in Toronto who’ve been asking about me about that kind of stuff.

Polaris Music Prize Record Salon #5 with The Rural Alberta Advantage happens this Tuesday, June 7 at the Drake (1150 Queen Street West) starting at 7 pm.
