Tough cookie

She’s just 24 years old, but Samantha Savage Smith is ready to take on all comers.  As the title of her debut album suggests, she’s one Tough Cookie, albeit with a vulnerable and tender core.  Take her recently released first video, “You Always Come To Mind”, which Smith describes as such: “It’s like no one showing up to your surprise birthday (which you planned yourself) and wishing John Cusack would be at your window with a ghetto blaster above his head, but not wearing pants. I was sure as shit that the tinsel, balloons, and sparklers would make the song less obviously depressing, but nothing helped.
