What Heavy Dreams may come

The halcyon days of summer may be well behind us already, but Hamilton’s The Heavy Dream are keeping the good vibrations going with their recently released new album, Under The Golden Sun. Recorded in Barn Window–head Dreamer Dave King’s converted barn studio–the record is the result of a year’s worth of work, and features players Pat Sansone (from Wilco and The Autumn Defense), Paul Linklater (of The Pinecones and Colleen and Paul) and James Strachan. Though this is King’s debut as The Heavy Dream, he’s no stranger to the Canadian music scene. With over 20 years of work as a drummer and producer (recently manning the board’s for Burlington’s Sandman Viper Command), King has made a name for himself in the industry, and is very excited about making The Heavy Dream a new name
For the month of October, The Heavy Dream are offering the album’s title track as a free single, along with b-side “Rachel’s Garden”, from their Bandcamp page. The whole album is available for purchase from IndoorShoes (one of my new favourite labels) by going to their online store.
The video for “Rachel’s Garden” has been released this past week as well, featuring the work of NYC photographer Matt Shwartz who does great work with treated Polaroids, and Graham Powell, who contributed some beautiful footage.
