Good year this year
It’s been a blast having the Hand Drawn Dracula gang contribute guest posts this week, and a big thanks go out to label founder James Mejia for helping put this all together. Not only is James the founder of Hand Drawn Dracula, he’s responsible for the iconoclastic cover art of the label’s records. For our final installment, James give us a run-down of his highlights for 2011.

This was the year of the mixtape for me. I liked a lot of albums but I focused mainly on songs. I started an HDD night at Unlovable bar in Toronto (co-owned by Unfamiliar Records) and I curated about 15 guest http://youlookdeath.ly mixtapes earlier this year. So in keeping with that theme, I made a tracklisting to some of my favourite songs of 2011 (no HDD content or friends’ projects on here).
1. Blouse – Into Black
2. Still Corners – Endless Summer
3. Jai Paul – BTSTU
4. ASAP Rocky – Trilla
5. CANT – Too Late, Too Far
6. David Lynch – Good Day Today
7. John Maus – Quantum Leap
8. Death Grips – Known For It
9. EMA – Milkman
10. Crystal Stilts – Shake the Shackles
11. Blood Orange – I’m Sorry We Lied
12. Weekend – Hazel
13. Violens – Spirit
14. Kindest Lines – Destructive Path to Live Happily
15. Soft Metals – Psychic Driving
16. Cold Cave – Confetti- James Mejia
