The Dirty Nil are A.L.I.V.E.
Summer doesn’t really start until The Dirty Nil release a new Summer Mixtape. The Hamilton boys kick off the new season with their second such collection in as many years, and this time it’s all covers. Featuring songs by The Misfits, Iggy Pop, Guided By Voices, and Merle Haggard, The Dirty Nil say this mixtape is “…volume two, in a 25 volume series. After 25, one of us will die.”
As if to further make good on that prediction, the band also released a new video for “Zombie Eyed” from their split 7″ single with Northern Primitive, which features “people trying to kill us!”
What’s with the death obsession? Your guess is as good as mine, but they do go on to note that “The Replacements are back together so nobody needs another band of drunk assholes.” True Dirty Nil, true, but you’re our band of drunk assholes, and we (kinda) love you for it. The Summer Mixtape Volume 2 is available from their Bandcamp page now (looks like the limited edition cassettes are all sold out) as a name-your-price download.
Also in Dirty Nil news: the band have launched their very own Record Club. It’s is a one-year subscription service that entitles the buyer to three limited-edition 7″ records per year that will feature an original song on the A-side and a cover on the B-side. These will all be songs that have never before seen a physical release, and will be limited only to Record Club members. Record Club 7″s will be produced only for subscription holders and will never be sold at shows or in stores. 7″s will also include digital download codes. Interested in siging up? You can do so here.
